Emma Scarano Hau, 89, of 603 N. West St., Coudersport, passed away Saturday night (Sept. 22, 2012) at her residence following a brief illness.

Born Aug. 25, 1923, in Johnsonburg, she was a daughter of the late Vincent and Josephine Cerro Scarano. On July 10, 1953, in Holy Rosary Church, Johnsonburg, she married William J. Hau, who died Jan. 15, 2007.
Hau resided in Coudersport for the past there years and was formerly of Johnsonburg.
She graduated from Johnsonburg High School in 1941, attended Temple University in Philadelphia and graduated from Villa Maria College in Erie.
Emma was employed by the Johnsonburg School District for 40 years, retiring in 1987. She also worked for Wilcox area schools for several years.
She was a member of Holy Rosary Church in Johnsonburg.
She is survived by two sons, William C. (Patricia) Hau of Coudersport and Christopher Hau of Palmyra; one daughter, Judy Hau of Palmyra; three grandchildren, Johnathan and Megan Hau and Jillian Dry; and one sister, Olivia Williams of Johnsonburg.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Vincent and Joseph Scarano; and two sisters, Benedette Rosetto and Margaret Pisani.
Friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Anthony F. Ferragine Funeral Home, 401 Chestnut St., Johnsonburg. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Rosary Church at 10 a.m. Wednesday with the Rev. David J. Wilson, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Holy Rosary Cemetery in Johnsonburg.
