HARRISBURG - Evelyn G. Freer passed away May 27, 2016 at Greenfield Senior Living Center in Harrisburg.

Evelyn was born Aug. 19, 1926, to late Milton H. Wright and Gladys A. Kinney Wright in Smethport.
She was educated in the Smethport school district. During her lifetime, in addition to Smethport, she had lived in Johnsonburg; Boalsburg; Spring Hill, Fla.; Etters, and Waynesboro.
Evelyn married John A. Sallack on June 17, 1950, in Smethport. He died Jan. 12, 1975. In May 1978, she married Edwin J. Freer in Boalsburg. He died Jan. 20, 2015.
She is survived by her children, David (JoEllen) Sallack of Harrisburg, Linnea (Terry Bryce) Sallack of Norman, Okla., and Jeffrey (Fabiola) Sallack of New Cumberland, as well as her stepchildren, Timothy (Cheryl) Freer, Mary Lu Irons, Delorus (Charles) Jarrett, Pamela (Melvin) Correll and Lori (David Hessler) Freer. In addition, Evelyn is survived by her brother, Alan (Lucille) Wright of New Oxford, and brother Llewellyn "Sarge" Wright of Smethport.
After marrying her first husband and moving to Johnsonburg, Evelyn was active in many social and church activities. She was a long-time library volunteer in Smethport and in Spring Hill, Fla. She was member of the Order of Eastern Star, Elizabeth Early Chapter #208, Ridgway. For many years she was employed as borough secretary for Johnsonburg Borough as well as the wage tax collector. Most recently, she had been a member of Fishing Creek Salem United Methodist Church in Etters. Previously, she had been a member of the First Methodist Church of Spring Hill, and St. John's Lutheran Church in Johnsonburg.
In addition to her two husbands, Evelyn was predeceased by daughter, Fay Sallack, stepdaughter, Margie McDowell, brother, Milton Wright and son-in-law, Lawrence Macupa.
She is survived by numerous grandchildren, stepgrandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Cremation Society of Pennsylvania Inc. A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.
