Floyd C. Sturtevant, 65, of Bradford, passed away on Monday (Aug. 11, 2014) at UPMC Hamot, Erie.
He was born on March 25, 1949 in Bradford, a son of the late Floyd E. and Goldie Smead Sturtevant.
He was a 1967 graduate of the Bradford Area High School and a 1983 graduate of the Pennsylvania Police Academy at Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
On June 7, 2008 in the First Presbyterian Church, Bradford, he married Cynthia L. Hart, who survives.
He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Bradford, where he served as a deacon, a former first aid and CPR instructor and a health officer for Bradford Township for 10 years.
He worked security for the former Airco Speers Co., was a McKean County Constable for four years and a police officer in Coudersport. He also worked for the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board for six years, the former Koch-Chatley-Gaeto Funeral Home for 14-and-a-half years, Mascho Funeral Home Inc. for one-and-a-half years and part-time at the Ronald McDonald II Funeral Home, Kane. for 16 years.
In addition to his wife of six years, Cynthia L. Sturtevant of Bradford, he is also survived by a stepbrother, Edward Meyer of Yoakum, Texas; a stepsister, Kathy Coy of Bradford; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two brothers, James and Lester Sturtevant, and one sister, Donna Gould.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Mascho Funeral Home Inc. and again from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the First Presbyterian Church with funeral services to follow immediately with the Rev. Robert Klouw officiating.
Burial will be in Willow Dale Cemetery.
