ELDRED - Forest O. "PeeWee" Goodell, 95, formerly of Prentisvale, passed away Monday (June 30th, 2014) at Sena-Kean Manor in Smethport following a brief illness.

Born Sept. 13, 1918, in Otto Township, he was a son of Frederick Layton and Bertha M. Fowler Goodell. On June 15, 1946, in the Knapp Creek (N.Y.) United Methodist Church, he married Audrey Jean Palmer, who passed away on April 11, 2012.
PeeWee was a 1937 graduate of Otto High School in Duke Center and had resided in Prentisvale for 58 years before moving to Eldred in 2008.
Mr. Goodell was employed in the local oil fields as a tool dresser for Pollack and Loop Oil Co. He was later employed by Pennzoil in production for 17 years; he was then employed by Agway in Olean, N.Y., which later became C.F. Industries, until his retirement in 1983.
He was a member of the Knapp Creek United Methodist Church for more than 60 years, where he was also a trustee and past co-treasurer. He was also a member of the Otto Township Lions Club for more than 40 years, where he was a past tail twister, and he was a past member of Eldred Grange #53, and a past Wild League baseball coach for Otto Township.
He loved fishing, baseball, football and spending time with his family.
Surviving is one son, Dale E. (Kathy) Goodell of Eldred; one daughter, Bonnie J. (Doug) Stannard of Eldred; five grandchildren, Julie (Matt) Groff, Heather (James) Juiliano, Keith (Bret) Goodell, Kevin (Julie) Goodell, and Kurt (Mandy) Goodell; as well as 15 great-grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren, Mary Ellen (Greg) Lang and Heather West; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Lawrence, Frank, Hubert and Stuart.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Frame Funeral Home in Eldred, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday with the Rev. Gerald Piper officiating. Burial will follow in Allegany Cemetery, Allegany, N.Y.
