COUDERSPORT - George E. Jaros, 96, of Coudersport, died Monday (Oct. 8, 2012) at Charles Cole Memorial Hospital in Coudersport.

Born on April 20, 1916, in Coudersport, he was the son of Michael and Mary Upsutnick Jaros. On Jan. 23, 1937, in Coudersport, he married Lorraine E. Bickford Jaros, who preceded him in death Nov. 15, 2011.
Mr. Jaros attended schools in Coudersport. He served in the Merchant Marines. He was formerly employed at the Damascus Tanning Co. and Charles Cole Memorial Hospital in Coudersport. He served the community for many years with faithful service at the Thomas E. Fickinger Funeral Home. He was a member of Knights of Columbus Council 1355 and the Coudersport volunteer fire department, and former and charter member of the Coudersport volunteer ambulance association.
Surviving are his son, William C. (Jody) Jaros of Port Allegany; his daughter, Connie (Chris) Heimel of Belleville, Ark.; seven grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two daughters, Phyllis Jaros Chilson and Mary Jaros; one brother, Mike Jaros; and three sisters, Anna Repp, Mary Golden and Susan Dietrick.
Friends are invited to George's Life Celebration beginning with visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Fickinger Funeral Home of Coudersport and Saturday at St. Eulalia Catholic Church from 10 to 11 a.m., at which time a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated with the Rev. James Campbell as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Eulalia Catholic Cemetery, Coudersport.
