George William "Bill" McCaslin, 73, of Coryville Alley, passed away Friday (June 15, 2012) in his home following a long illness.
Born April 24, 1939, in Olean, N.Y., he was a son of Hugh and Ruth Starr McCaslin. On June 5, 1960, in the Eldred Methodist Church, he married Marion Bennett, who survives.
Bill graduated from Northern Potter High School. He had resided in Potter and McKean counties, and had resided in Coryville since 1973.
He was a cement mason most of his life, having worked out of Cement Mason's Local 526 of Pittsburgh and retiring in 2002.
Mr. McCaslin was a member of the Northern Star Lodge #555 F&AM of Duke Center, a social member of Eldred American Legion Post 887 and VFW Post 2092, both of Eldred; and a longtime member of pool and horseshoe leagues in the area and the local four-wheeler club. He was an avid hunter and woodworker and enjoyed making wood projects for his family and enjoyed spending time with his many friends.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are two sons, Rodney McCaslin of Eldred and Randy McCaslin of Smethport; three daughters, Jean (Chuck) Hendrickson of Ormsby, Joan (Chuck) Waterman of Randolph, and Connie (Terry) Appleby of Little Genesee; 17 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one brother, Robert McCaslin of Bedford, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Daniel; one brother, Donald McCaslin; and two sisters, Joan Ash and Kay Harriston.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Frame Funeral Home in Eldred, where funeral and committal services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday with Pastor Max Simms officiating.
