KANE - Glenn L. "Ike" Shay Jr., 70, of 432 Haines St., passed away Tuesday (April 7, 2015) at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Born Feb. 11, 1945, in Kane, he was the son of the late Glenn Sr. and Zora Slocum Shay. On May 10, 1969, in Lewis Run, he married Cheryl Trumbull, who survives.
Glenn was employed at Howe's Leather in Mount Jewett for 11 years, Stackpole, Kane Magnetic Inc. for 31 years and Kwik Fill for five years.  He also worked part-time with his father-in-law, Russ Trumbull.
Glenn was a member of the Free Methodist Church. He enjoyed camping and fishing with his son and excelled at woodcrafting.
Surviving, in addition to Cheryl, his wife of 45 years, is a daughter, Barbara (Michael) Bell and a son, Scott Shay; a sister, Roxie Compton of Mount Jewett; a brother, Willard "Bill" (Gale) Shay also of Mount Jewett; eight grandchildren, Tasha Wilber of Kane, Talor Wilber of Jamestown, N.Y., Emily Magnetti, Mikey and Brooke Bell and Ashley, Kyle and Alex Shay, all of Kane. Four sisters-in-law and four brothers-in-law also survive in addition to several nieces and nephews.
Friends may attend a memorial service at 11 a.m. April 25 at the Kane Free Methodist Church, 317 Bayard St., with pastor Chaz Maldonado and pastor Milton Jones co-officiating. Burial will be in Gibbs Hill Cemetery at a future date.
