PORT ALLEGANY - H. Lynn Crosby, 96, of Dennis Avenue, passed away Saturday (April 11, 2015) in his home.
Born May 7, 1918, in Inez, he was a son of Herbert W. and Vernice Reed Crosby. On Feb. 10, 1045, in Dayton Beach, Fla., he married Margaret S. Segulin, who survives. They were married 70 years. 
Lynn was a lifetime resident of the area and a graduate of Coudersport High School, Class of 1937.
Mr. Crosby was a veteran of World War II, having served with the U.S. Navy form March 5, 1942 to Sept. 10, 1945.    
He was a self-employed carpenter and retired in 1987, after 35 years of service to area residents.
Mr. Crosby was a member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church, Port Allegany. He enjoyed square dancing and traveling with his wife for many years.
Surviving is a son, William R. (Sharon) Crosby of Laguna Niguel, Calif.; a grandson; two brothers, Howard A. (Dorothy) Crosby of Florida, and the Rev. Walter (Bonnie Jean) Crosby of Cincinnati, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Lonnie and Wayne Crosby; and two sisters, Retha Campbell and Letha Roberts.
At Lynn's request, there will be no visitation. Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Tuesday in St. Gabriel Catholic Church, Port Allegany, with the Rev. James Campbell as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Elizabeth's Cemetery, Smethport. A military service will be conducted by the Port Allegany Honor Guard immediately following the funeral at the church.
Memorials can be made to the St. Gabriel Church Memorial Fund or Port Area Ambulance Service.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Switzer Funeral Home, Port Allegany.
