PATTON - Harry Bogel, 80, of Bradford, formerly of Barnesboro, passed away Wednesday (Feb. 25, 2015) at Roswell Park Cancer Center, Buffalo, N.Y.

He was born June 8, 1934 in Barnesboro, the son of Harry and Mary Duke Bogel.
Harry was a graduate of Barnesboro High School and served in the U.S. Army with the 7th infantry Division during the Korean War. He was a retired police officer from the Washington, D.C. Police Department and had also been employed as a security guard for Miners Hospital and Werzalit Company in Bradford. He was a member of the Assoc. of Retired Policeman of the District of Columbia 7th Precinct Washington D.C.and the American Legion, Allegany, N.Y. He enjoyed gardening, loved to travel and was an avid hunter and fisherman who loved the outdoors.
He is survived by his sons, Greg (Sheila) Bogel of Northern Cambria and Gary Bogel of Las Vegas, Nev.; sisters Catherine Olear of Northern Cambria, Joanne (Jack) Johnston of Eclectic, Ala., Barbara (Edward) Westover of Middlefield, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Fred Bogel; and sisters, Mary Carlson and Elizabeth Stanek.
At Harry's request, there will be no viewing. Panachida will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday at Stevens Funeral Home Inc., 1004 N. Fifth Ave., Patton, followed by Divine Liturgy at 11 a.m. at Saints Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church, Patton, by the Rev. Vasyl Polyak. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Full Military honors will be accorded by John White VFW Post 779 and Walter McCoy American Legion Post 614.
