Helen A. McKay, 89, of East Main Street, Bradford, passed away peacefully on Saturday (Feb. 8, 2014) at her residence.

Born Sept. 5, 1924, in Bradford, she was the only child of the late Harold S. and Helen Polley McKay.
She was a graduate of Bradford High School and Northwestern University in Chicago, Ill. After college, she returned to Bradford to assist her father with the family oil and gas business.
She was a member of the Church of the Ascension, Junior Guild/ACW, Women's Literary Club and Current Events Club. She was a volunteer for more than 50 years and served on the board of directors at the American Red Cross and Meals on Wheels and was president of the board for two years. She served as a volunteer chairwoman for the American Red Cross blood services.
Friends will be received from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. today in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc., 33 South Ave., Bradford. Funeral and committal services will be held at 2:30 p.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Stacey Fussell, rector of the Church of the Ascension, officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
