Helen F. St. Clair, 92, of Bradford, passed away on Saturday (Sept. 7, 2013) at the Bradford Manor.
She was born on Aug. 8, 1921, in Johnsonburg, a daughter of the late James E. and Elizabeth M. Fitch McLaughlin. On June 8, 1968, in Olean, N.Y., she married David F. St. Clair, who preceded her in death on May 12, 1982.
She was employed by Alcas Cutlery in Olean, N.Y., and W.R. Case and Sons Cutlery Co. for a number of years until her retirement in 1989.
She was a former member of the Women of the Moose, Bradford Chapter 330, she was skilled at knitting and crocheting many items for friends and family; she enjoyed working on puzzles and crossword puzzles. In her younger years, she enjoyed bowling and traveling with her husband and sister. She was an avid Buffalo Bills and St. Bonaventure basketball fan. Everyone that knew Helen knew that she was a strong willed and independent woman.
She is survived by two sons, Jim (Nancy) Pfeiffer of Franklinville, N.Y., and John (Jeanne) Pfeiffer of Olean; two daughters, Agnes (Robert) DiFonzo of Fairview and Judith A. Sampson of Bradford; two sisters, Marilyn Hodgedon of Venice, Fla., and Louise Rex of Jacksonville, Fla.; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by one grandson, James Pfeiffer Jr.; five brothers; and five sisters.
At the family's request, there will be no visitation. Private funeral services will be held at their convenience. Burial will be in Duke Center Cemetery.
