KILL BUCK, N.Y. - Funeral services for Henry F. Ackley, 58, of 6263 Route 417, Kill Buck, N.Y., who died unexpectedly Friday (Sept. 21, 2012) at his home, will be held at 11 a.m. today in the Casey, Halwig and Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 W. State Road, Olean.
The Guest Book is expired.
Friends were received Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Allegany Cemetery.
Born Feb. 1, 1954, in Olean, he was the son of Lloyd and Leda Boser Ackley.
Henry was a 1973 graduate of Allegany Central School and then served with the U.S. Marines in the Vietnam War from 1974 to 1978. He continued service as a Reservist until 1980.
He first worked at McNamara's Flower and Garden Center in Allegany and later for Peterson Landscaping in Allegany. He was an avid outdoorsman who liked making trails, camping and enjoying nature. He also loved working with wood, reading and spending time with handyman projects.
Surviving are one son, Joseph Tackett; one daughter, Brenda Ackley; five grandchildren; one brother, Lloyd Ackley in Alabama; four sisters, Rebecca (John) Mortenson of Sugar Grove, Pa., Valerie Ackley of Allegany, Cynthia (Wayne) Lombardo of North Tonawanda and Laura Ackley of Wellsville; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Henry Ackley on Dec. 27, 1988, and Casey Jimerson in August 1998; two sisters, Mary Foley in 2011 and Wanda Bryer in 2000; and one brother, George Ackley.
Memorials may be made to a veteran's organization of the donor's choice.
