OLEAN, N.Y. - Jack L. Kennedy of Prospect Avenue, Olean, passed away Saturday (Oct. 25, 2014) in Cuba Memorial Hospital Medical Care Unit after a brief illness.
Born Dec. 13, 1928, in Yatesboro, Pa., he was the son of the late John and Lola Kirkpatrick Kennedy. On July 12, 1952, in St. John Church, Olean, he married Victorine R. Karowitz, who survives.
Jack resided here most of his life and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was employed at Dresser Industries and was a member of the Dresser Retirees Association.
He was a member of St. John Church, member of the Oil & Gas Engine Association and enjoyed woodworking and his model trains.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his children, John (Marie) Kennedy of Olean, Barbara Volz of Olean, Richard (Teresa) Kennedy of Goldsboro, N.C., and Jean Benson of Eldred, Pa., seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by 12 brothers and sisters.
Family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Guenther Funeral Home Inc., 1303 East State St., Olean. Friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Wednesday in St. John Church with the Rev. Edward Sheedy, pastor, as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery. A Scripture wake service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.
