JOHNSONBURG - James S. Dworsky, 89, 522 Penn St., Johnsonburg, died Sunday afternoon (Oct. 13, 2014) at Elk Haven Nursing Home, St. Marys, following a lengthy illness.

He was the son of Stephen and Violet Yeager Dworsky. He married Dolores Popielski on May 5, 1962, in Holy Rosary Church, Johnsonburg, and she survives.
Mr. Dworsky was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving at sea aboard the USS Briareus as a Seaman 1st Class, where he received the Victory Medal and American Campaign, Philippine Liberation and Asiatic Pacific medals.
He is survived by one son, Daniel James (Shawn) Dworsky of Ridgway; one daughter, Christine Marie Geer of Ridgway; three grandchildren, Samantha and Sydney Kovalyak and Dakota Dworsky; three sisters, Lorraine Dworsky of St. Marys, Lois (Robert) Czekai of Rush, N.Y., and Barbara (Neal) Dougherty of Cincinnati, Ohio; and one brother, Tom Dworsky of Reynoldsville.
Friends will be received from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Anthony F. Ferragine Funeral Home, 401 Chestnut St., Johnsonburg. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday at Holy Rosary Church, Johnsonburg. Interment will be in Holy Rosary Cemetery, Johnsonburg. Military honors will be accorded by the Johnsonburg-Wilcox Servicemen's Detail. Detail members are asked to assemble at the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. Thursday.
