Jim is also survived by his brothers, Brad (Sally) Mangel and Curt Mangel; three sisters, Debbie Garthwaite, Karen (Dave) Pascale and Nancy (Jeff) Burkett; mother-in-law, Larona O'Connor; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Donna Zubrowski, Michael and Rhonda O'Connor and Lee Hobart; his beloved cousin, Christine (Glenn) Pritchard; nieces, Roxanne Benjamin, Jessica Burkett, Kara and Stephanie Zubrowski and Danielle Hobart; nephews, Jeremy, Zach and Jake Garthwaite, Alex Burkett, Josh Hobart, Matt Zubrowski and Paul and Andrew O'Connor.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd C. and Betty B. Mangel Jr.; a nephew, Erik; and a niece, Jodi.
Jim was the recipient of a miracle when he survived a ruptured aorta on April 1, 2012. He treasured every moment he was given after this with his girls and beloved wife. Jim's family and friends cherished this additional time as a special gift from God. Jim was humbled by the outpouring of love and support he received.
Jim was a friend to everyone he met. He spent a considerable amount of time mentoring youth and coaching basketball and soccer; including his daughters' teams. He was an avid sports fan. Go Orangemen!
