MOUNT JEWETT - James J. Morgan, 79, of 9152 Route 6, Lantz Corners, passed away on Friday (Feb. 20, 2015) at UPMC Hamot in Erie. 
He was born on Aug. 16, 1935, in Halsey, the son of the late Joseph and Catherine Rendosh Morgan. On July 22, 1961, in Mount Jewett, he married June Wallin Morgan, who survives.
He was a graduate of Kane Area High School and served in the U.S. Army.
Mr. Morgan had been employed by the railroad, the Pennsylvania State Highways as an inspector, Corning Glass, Dale Electronics and Temple-Inland.
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mount Jewett, the Mount Jewett Sportsman Club and Mount Jewett Veteran's Memorial Club. He enjoyed hunting, woodworking and carving birds.
Surviving relatives include one son, Craig Morgan of Johnsonburg; four grandsons, Christopher, Brett, Pierce and Marcus Morgan; one great-grandson, Joshua; two brothers, John Morgan of Sayre and Edward (Jennifer) Morgan of Campbelltown; one sister-in-law, Mary Morgan of James City; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Mark J. Morgan; one brother, Joseph Morgan; and two sisters, Kathryn Hasney and Ann Morgan.
Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Cummings Funeral Home in Mount Jewett. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. Vincent Cieslewicz, pastor, as celebrant. Military services and burial will follow at Nebo Cemetery.
The family asks that memorial donations be made to the Mount Jewett Sportsman Club; or St. Joseph Catholic Church.
