James W. Neely, 85, of 1179 High St., Bradford, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday (Jan. 12, 2014) at Bradford Regional Medical Center.
Born Oct. 29, 1928, in Bradford, he was a son of the late Wayne and Alice Work Neely. On April 25, 1952, in Bradford, he married Carol L. Bentley Neely, who survives.
Mr. Neely was a 1947 graduate of Bradford High School and the Lincoln Electric Welding School.
He was a co-owner of Neely & Marcott Fuel Oil Distributors. He later worked as a welder at Dresser Manufacturing and Penelec. He had also worked for the Crissman Lumber Co., operating the skidder, and later for the Bradford Area School District in maintenance.
He attended the Abundant Life Assembly of God Church. He also was an avid hunter, fisherman and enjoyed feeding the wild turkeys.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Lynn (Amy) Neely of Olean, N.Y., and Scott Neely and Jack (Mary Ellen) Neely, all of Bradford; two sisters, Beverly Moyer of Marshburg and Wendy Kay Schwab of Bradford; a brother, Gerald (Cindy) Neely of Bolivar, N.Y.; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Cole Neely; two sisters, Jeanne Walker and Carol Least; and an infant brother, Richard Neely.
Family will be receiving friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday in the Abundant Life Assembly of God Church, where a memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Philip  Palutro, pastor, officiating. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc.
