KANE - Jane L. Harlan, 78, formerly of 11 Lucky Lane, Kane, died Monday afternoon (Nov. 14, 2016) at The Lutheran Home at Kane.
Born April 28, 1938, in East Kane, she was the daughter of Charles H. and Sara L. Robinson Groves. On Aug. 27, 1955, in Limestone, N.Y., she married Ronald B. Harlan, who died in 2013.
Jane was an organist for the East Kane and Mount Jewett United Methodist Churches. She had worked for Stackpole Corp. in Kane, Blackstone in Sheffield and in the kitchen at Olmsted Manor in Ludlow.
A member of the East Kane United Methodist Church, she was an avid cook and baker and shared it with others, as well as canning, sewing and crocheting. She enjoyed spending time with family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving are two daughters, Norma (Bob) Geer of St. Marys and Tammy (Scott) Mix of Kane; a son, Ken (Sue) Harlan of Ludlow; grandchildren, Sara Resh, Adam Geer, Bryan and Karen Harlan and Matt and Amanda Mix; and great-grandchildren, Tracen and Clara Jane Resh.
She was preceded in death, in addition to her husband and parents, by a son, Donald Harlan in 1967, a brother, Neal Groves; and her twin sister, Joan Swedenhjelm.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday at the Ronald McDonald II Funeral Home Inc. in Kane, where a service will be held at noon with the Revs. W. Craig Smith, Brian Aul and Jan Reynolds co-officiating. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery following cremation.
