KANE - Joe L. "Slim" Garris, 44, of 130 Greeves St., Kane, died unexpectedly Wednesday (Feb. 12, 2014) at his residence.
Born June 25, 1969, in Kane, he was the son of Clyde L. and Janice M. Carlson Garris. 
Joe was a carpenter for Garris Construction for many years. A trivia lover, he enjoyed watching sports and spending time with friends and family at the family camp.
Surviving are his son, Cory Joe Garris, his father, Clyde "Butch" Garris, and a grandmother, Lyla Garris, all of Kane; two sisters, Constance (Larry) Smith and Launa (Eric) Asp, both of Kane; grandsons Kaiden and Bentley Garris; plus several nieces, nephews and cousins and his former wife, Toni Dunn.
He was preceded in death by his mother; grandmother, Florence Carlson; grandfathers, Martin Carlson and Clyde Garris; and a beloved cousin, Gordie Carlson.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. until the time of service at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 22 at the Emmanuel Mission Church, corner of Biddle and Edgar James streets, Kane. Interment will be in Gibbs Hill Cemetery, Ludlow, at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to a fund for his cemetery memorial c/o Katie Smith, 128 Pine Ave., Kane, PA  16735.
Funeral arrangements are in the care of the Ronald McDonald II Funeral Home Inc., Kane.
