John J. Lally (1937 - 2013)

CERES - John J. Lally, 76, of Champlin Hollow Road, passed away Saturday (Sept. 7, 2013) at Olean (N.Y.) General Hospital following a brief illness.
Born Jan. 13, 1937, in Philadelphia, he was a son of Francis W. and Virginia F. Austin Lally Sr. On Oct. 27, 1984, in Sacred Heart Church in Portville, N.Y., he married Patricia A. Hamilton, who passed away on Nov. 4, 2012.
Mr. Lally had attended Philadelphia schools. He had resided at Champlin Hollow for many years.
John was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served during the Korean War. He was employed at several jobs in Philadelphia before moving to Ceres Township. Later, he was employed locally at Acme Electric in Allegany, N.Y., the Current Control in Wellsville, N.Y., and had retired from Cutco Cutlery in Olean in 2002.
He was a member of the AARP. 
John loved spending time with his grandchildren and his wife before she passed away in November. He loved being outdoors and working with his model electric train layouts.
Surviving is one son, John J. (Mary) Snyder of Bolivar, N.Y.; two daughters, Patty N. (Robert) Sander of Allegany and Joyce A. Myers of Concord, N.Y.; nine grandchildren; one great-grandson; two brothers, William (Donna) Lally of Coatesville and Francis Lally Jr. of Ceres; and one sister, Patricia (Michael) Slack of Hatfield.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Frame Funeral Home in Eldred, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Gary Sheesley officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Ceres.
