COUDERSPORT - John Charles Norek, 96, of Coudersport, passed away Wednesday (Sept. 23, 2015) at Cole Memorial Hospital.

Born June 3, 1919 in Brookston, he was the son of Charles and Eva Mativiecz Norek. On Nov. 11, 1950, he married Phyllis B. Norek, who survives.
John was a member of the St. Eulalia Catholic Church in Coudersport. He worked for many years as a custodian in the Austin Area School.
John is survived by his wife, children Gayle (Jeff) Potocek of Coudersport, Kris Arbogast of Coudersport and Kevin (Kelley) Norek of Portville, N.Y.; sister, Jean Streich of Emporium; six grandchildren, Lindsay (Jesse) Graham of Jamestown, Pa., Leslie (Steve) Freeman of Birdsboro, Derek Anthony of Coudersport, Jillian (Shane) Stegen of Erie, Kyle and Kelsie Norek of Portville, N.Y.; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Mike and Stanley Norek and sisters, Frances Dujenski, Agnes Martin, Helen Hardes, Elizabeth Ludwig and Mary Ours.
John's Life Celebration will begin Friday at the Thomas E. Fickinger Funeral Home with a visitation from 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service to be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the St. Eulalia Catholic Church, with the Rev. James Campbell officiating.
