Joseph Oleksa, 86, of 39 Euclid Ave., Bradford, passed away Thursday (Jan. 3, 2013) at his residence.

Born Nov. 18, 1926, in Custer City, he was a son of the late Michael and Susan Yaros Oleksa. He was a 1944 graduate of Bradford High School.
On Oct. 16, 1948, in St. Francis Church by Monsignor G. Carlton Ritchie, he married Gloria L. Shaffer Oleksa, who died on July 28, 2010.
He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1944, served in Italy at the conclusion of World War II and was honorably discharged in 1947.
After the service, Joe worked at Star Garage and later at Phillip C. Bauchard Dodge as the service and part manager. He retired in 1990 after more than 40 years of service.
He was member of St. Francis Church, and Pine Acres Golf Club.
Surviving are three daughters: Susan (William) Shannon of McKean, Karen (John) Brokaw of Hamburg, N.Y., and Amy (Jerry) Eberhart of Tega City, S.C.; two sons, Joseph (Ruth) Oleksa of Bradford, and Jeffrey (Karen) Oleksa of Stuggart, Germany; nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; one brother, Paul Oleksa of Bossier City, La.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife; two sisters, Mary Seaward and Anna Coldren; and two brothers, Michael Oleksa and John Oleksa.
Family will be receiving friends Monday from 3-5 & 7-9 p.m. in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc., East Main Street, where a prayer service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St Francis Church. Committal services, military honors and entombment will be in St Bernard Mausoleum.
