Joseph A. Pettinato Jr., 94, of Bradford, passed away on Monday (Feb. 29, 2016) at The Pavilion at Bradford Regional Medical Center.
He was born on Aug. 23, 1921, in Bradford, a son of the late Joseph Sr. and Rose Christani Pettinato.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II; during his service he was stationed with the 750th Tank Battalion in the European Theater and received the Purple Heart.
Mr. Pettinato is survived by his wife of 67 years, Genevieve Pettinato of Bradford; three sons, Michael (Kathleen) Pettinato of Maricopa, Ariz., Stephen (Deborah) Pettinato of Bradford, and Mark (Karen Haven) Pettinato of Bradford; two daughters, Mary Pettinato Howard of Mechanicsburg, and Cynthia (Victor A. Vena) Pettinato of Shinglehouse; four grandsons, William (Staci) Howard, Aaron (Tiffany) Pettinato, Nathaniel (Elissa) Pettinato and Joseph Pettinato; three granddaughters, Angella Howard Hodges, Meaghan Pettinato and Sarah (David) Pettinato Peterson; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
At the family's request, there will be no visitation. Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Bernard Catholic Church with the Rev. Raymond Gramata as celebrant. Entombment will be in St. Bernard Cemetery.
