SCIO, N.Y. - Joseph L. Pratt, 75, of 4547 Wadsworth Hill Road, Scio, passed away in his home Tuesday (Feb. 5, 2013) following a brief illness.
Born April 3, 1937, in Rixford, Pa., he was the son of Merril and Ruth Church Pratt. On Nov. 21, 1959, in Red House, he married Patricia Stevens, who survives.
He had resided in the Scio area since 1974. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and had attended school in Great Valley. He was a graduate of Ellicottville High School.
Joseph had retired as an agent for the Prudential, Farmers and Traders and the Agway insurance companies.
He was a life member of the New York State Firemen's Association.
Besides his wife, he is survived by four children, Jeffrey Pratt of Cuba, Dana Pratt of Belmont, Gregory Pratt of Binghamton, and Stephen Pratt of Gifford, Pa.; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Kevin; brothers, William, Keith and John Pratt; and sisters, Gladys Kellogg, Marjeray Carol and Marie Melzer.
Friends may call from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Saturday at the Mulholland-Crowell Funeral Home, Wellsville, where services will be held at 5:30 p.m. with the Rev. Dr. John Heister officiating. Burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery, Scio.
