Josephine A. Crooks, 93, a resident of The Pavilion at BRMC, formerly of 11 Ascension St., passed away peacefully on Wednesday (Aug. 22, 2012) at Bradford Regional Medical Center with her loving family at her side.

Born Aug. 9, 1919, in Bradford, she was a daughter of the late Clarence E. and Ila Howe Cramer. On May 6, 1944, in Limestone, N.Y., she married George F. Crooks, who died on Oct. 26, 1954.
Mrs. Crooks had been employed at the University of Pittsburgh, Bradford campus, W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Co., and later as a housekeeper for many Bradford area residences.
Surviving are three daughters, Cathy Stockman of Kernersville, N.C., and Linda Pascarella and Joy Pascarella, both of Bradford; three sons, George E. Crooks of Jamestown, N.Y., Jack L. Crooks of Batavia, N.Y., and Arthur E. Crooks of Marienville; three sisters, Barbara Maletta, Nancy Engstrom and Joyce Caswell, all of Bradford; 13 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two daughters, Anita L. Gilbert and Bonnie McAndrew; one son, Leonard J. Gilbert; and five sisters.
Family will be receiving friends from 10 a.m. to noon Monday in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc., South Avenue, where funeral and committal services will be held at noon with the Rev. Philip Palutro, pastor of the Abundant Life Assembly of God Church, officiating. Burial will be in Willow Dale Cemetery.
