SMETHPORT - Judith Diane Duffy, 70, of Smethport, died Thursday (Feb. 26, 2015) in The Pavilion at Bradford Regional Medical Center.
She was born Nov. 26, 1944 in Niagara Falls, N.Y., the youngest daughter of six children of William A. and Hazel E. House Pringle. On Dec. 17, 1963 in St. Elizabeth Church, Smethport, she married William Owen Duffy, who survives.
Mrs. Duffy was a graduate of Niagara Falls High School and had worked in health care with several facilities over the years.
Judy loved cooking, canning and preserving. She did much of this from her gardens that she grew. She liked sewing for her family and household. She was also an avid sports fan, especially of football and basketball. Judy found relaxation in reading. She enjoyed non-fiction, since she tended to be a no-nonsense individual with a good sense of humor. She was a one-of-a-kind woman who mastered anything she put her mind to. She will be sadly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by 10 children, including five sons, Matthew of Girard, Daniel of Castle Rock, Colo., Mark of Central, S.C., William of Bradford and Charles of San Antonio, Texas; and five daughters, Kathleen Luce of Olean, N.Y., Patricia Kabir in South Carolina, Bridget Grohe of Smethport, Nora Buterbaugh and Frances Duffy of Syracuse, N.Y.; 19 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; three brothers, Charles L. Pringle of Waller, Texas; Richard A. Pringle of Norman, Okla. and Russel G. Pringle of Houston, Texas; one sister, Donna J. Gioia of Lockport, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Owen William Duffy; and one brother, John D. Pringle.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. March 13 at Hartle-Tarbox Funeral Homes Inc., 2 Bank St., Smethport.
Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Hamlin Memorial Library, 123 S. Mechanic St., Smethport, PA 16749.
