McMURRAY - Julia Mary O'Connor Hughes, 89, of Pittsburgh, formerly of Bradford, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Tuesday (Sept. 17, 2013).

Born July 10, 1924, in Kane, she is the daughter of the late John and Gertrude Monahan O'Connor.
She was the beloved mother of Holly (Paul) Marocchi of DeLand, Fla., and Bonnie Willliamson of Pittsburgh; cherished aunt of Robert W. (Patricia) O'Connor Jr., Dominic V. Monti, O.F.M., Susan (Roger) Pfeiffer and Linda Monti; also survived by many great nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by husbands, Robert Williamson, Harry Brogan, and Franklin T. Hughes, Jr.; and a brother Robert W. O'Connor Sr.
Julia was a proud graduate of the Edward J. Meyer Memorial Hospital School of Nursing and spent her lifetime as a registered nurse. She also opened the first Coronary Care Unit at the Bradford Hospital. She continued her nursing career in Florida and Hilton Head. Once retired, she enjoyed golf and gambling and was especially lucky playing cards. Above all, Julia enjoyed spending time with her family.
Funeral arrangements are private and have been entrusted to Cremation & Funeral Care, 3287 Washington Road, McMurray.
