June A. Shembeda, 82, of Bradford, passed away on Friday (Oct. 9, 2015) at the Bradford Ecumenical Home.
June was born June 30, 1933, in Bradford, to Err and Verna Riggs, the youngest of 13 children and the only girl.
She attended Bradford Area High School and in 1950 married her high school sweetheart, Joseph Shembeda, who preceded her in death. They had been happily married for 61 years upon his death.
Mrs. Shembeda was known and loved for her sense of humor and love of life and family. She raised 10 children while partnering with her husband in Shembeda Floor Covering. She was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church, The Red Hats Society and TOPS as well as very active in school functions when her children and grandchildren were growing up.
She is survived by 10 children, Charles, David (Marge Rodgers), Julie (Pat) McCord, Alan, Gary (Jamie Whiteman), Darla (Dan) Oaks, all of Bradford, Christine of Hollywood, Fla., Sue (Gary) Wells of Rochester, Pa.,: Lori (Ken) Adams, Highlands Ranch, Colo.: and Brian (Margaret) of Park Ridge, Ill. She is also survived by 20 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, John (Marilyn) Riggs of Bradford; and one brother and sister-in-law, Joe and Genevieve Pettinato of Bradford.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Mascho Funeral Home Inc. Funeral services will be held at noon Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Raymond Gramata presiding. Entombment will be in Willow Dale Cemetery.
