BLUFFTON, S.C. - Lawrence D. "Larry" Bernhard, 77, of Bluffton and formerly of Bradford, Pa., died Friday (July 6, 2018) at home.
Mr. Bernhard was born on Aug. 17, 1940, in Berkeley Springs, W.Va., the son of the late James and Helen Porter Bernhard. He graduated from high school in Kane, Pa., and began his career in the oil industry, retiring after many years of service as an Energy Technician with Witco Corp. He was active with the Kiwanis Club and with Second Helpings in Bluffton. Larry enjoyed woodworking, Penn State Football and University of Kentucky Basketball.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Bernhard was preceded in death by his siblings, Norma Jean Bernhard, Jim Bernhard, Bob Bernhard, Gus Bernhard, Ed Bernhard, Mildred Alexis, Rick Bernhard and Eleanor Hervatin.
He is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Jennifer Bernhard; children, Jim (Ann) Bernhard, Deanna (John) Carls, Dawn (Mike) Kozminski, Graham (Katie) English and Brian (Ana) English; brothers, Ken and Ted Bernhard; grandchildren, Chelsea (Andy) Smith, Nicole (Brett) Butler, Karli (Zach) Ramadhan, Elliot English, Gabriel English, Desmond English and Eve English; great-grandchildren, Cole Smith, Chase Smith and Jalen Ramadhan; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will take place at 11 a.m. Thursday at the First Presbyterian Church of Bradford.
