EMPORIUM - Leo J. Cummings, 71, of 306 W. 6th St., Emporium, died at DuBois Regional Medical Center on Wednesday morning (March 6, 2013).

He was born June 13, 1941, in St. Marys, a son of the late Leo B. and Mary Gabor Cummings. On July 17, 1971, in St. Mark Catholic Church, he married Connie Uplinger Cummings, who survives.
Mr. Cummings graduated from Cameron County High School in the Class of 1961. He served with the U.S. Navy from 1961 to 1965. Leo retired from Emporium Hardwoods, where he worked for many years. Years ago, he worked at Sylvania.
He was a lifelong member of Miller-Raffaelle Post 6221 VFW and a member of St. Mark Catholic Church and the Emporium Volunteer Fire Department.
Surviving, in addition to Connie Uplinger Cummings, are a son, Leo G. (Michelle) Cummings of Emporium; two grandchildren, Sophie and Leo J. Cummings; two sisters, Mary Ann (Vincent) Brunelli of Force and Polly Jo (George) Skillman in South Carolina; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo B. and Mary Gabor Cummings; and a brother, Joseph Cummings.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Barnett Funeral Home, where a military service will be accorded by the Cameron County Memorial Detail. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Mark Catholic Church, 235 E. Fourth St., Emporium, with the Rev. Paul S. Siebert, pastor, as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Mark Catholic Cemetery, Emporium.
