KANE - Lewis E. "Bud" Byerly, 94, formerly of 227 Birch St., Kane, died Friday morning (Oct. 30, 2015) at The Lutheran Home at Kane.

Born July 5, 1921, in Brookville, he was the son of Earl N. and Latisha B. Plyler Byerly. On June 8, 1946, he married Claudia R. Young, who died in 1980.
Bud served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1941 to 1945. He was an oil lease worker for many years, and janitor of the former Clay Street School, retiring in the 1970s when the school closed.
He was a member of Emanuel Mission Church in Kane, Kane Lodge #566 F&AM and the former Mountain Grange #1307, Kane.
Surviving are a daughter, Linda Irwin of Bradford, a son, David Byerly of Falconer, N.Y., and a sister, Doris Kline of Plainfield, Ill. Four grandchildren, Matt Irwin, Tracey Peck, Jeff Byerly and Dan Byerly also survive, as do seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Ronald McDonald II Funeral Home Inc. in Kane on Monday from noon until 1 p.m., at which time a service will be held there with the Rev. David Pflieger, Chaplain of The Lutheran Home at Kane, officiating. Interment will follow in Mount Tabor Cemetery, Kane.
