SMETHPORT - Luella G. Williams Gray, 83, of Bradford, formerly of Eldred, passed away Wednesday (March 7, 2012) at the Bradford Ecumenical Home.
She was born June 18, 1928, in Carrollton, N.Y., a daughter of Frank J. and Ethel G. Anderson Williams. She married Rodney A. Gray Sr., who preceded her in death on Aug. 26, 2002.
Mrs. Gray had been employed at Airco Speer Electronics in Bradford. She was later self-employed as a home health aide.
Luella was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She enjoyed Bingo, word search puzzles, crocheting, reading and family.
She is survived by five daughters, Susan E. (William) Jacobs of Salamanca, N.Y., Barbara A. (Mike) Copenhaver of Rixford, Nancy L. Schrlau of Portville, N.Y., Deborah L. Foster of Duke Center and Amy D. (David) Shaw of Smethport; three sons, Rodney A. (Patricia) Gray Jr. of Bartlesville, Okla., Steven M. (Cindy) Gray of Eldred and Douglas P. (Ashley) Gray of Allegany, N.Y.; 23 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Audrey (Harry) Martin of Smethport, Dorothy Manning of Elmirage, Ariz., and Lila McLaughlin of Cyclone; five brothers, Glenn (Rhea) Williams and Donald Williams, both of Smethport, James (Fran) Williams of Rixford, John (Betty) Williams of Mineral Point and Norman (Ginger) Williams of Cyclone; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Mark A. Gray; three brothers, Malvern "Hap" Williams, Robert Williams and Walter Williams; and one sister, Violet Jones.
Visitation will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday at the Hartle-Tarbox Funeral Homes Inc., 2 Bank St., Smethport, where funeral and committal services will follow immediately at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Max Miller, pastor of the Bradford Area Parish, officiating. Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery, Farmers Valley.
