EMPORIUM - Madeline V. DeMark, 88, of 157 S. Main St., Portville, N.Y., formerly of Austin, died at Olean General Hospital, Olean, N.Y., on Monday (Sept. 8, 2014) evening.

She was born July 2, 1926 in Austin, a daughter of the late Dominic and Lena Perry DeMark.
Madeline was a kind person and a loving daughter, sister and aunt. She will be greatly missed. She was a certified electrical technician having worked at Sylvania for over 25 years and then for Tau Electronics for several years. She later worked for McGraw Edison from where she retired in 1984.
Her early interests were golf, traveling and years ago she even took flight lessons. Madeline enjoyed reading, cooking, word search puzzles and playing bingo.
Surviving are two sisters, Marie (Ralph) Anastasia of Olean and Arlene DeMark of Portville; a brother, Samuel DeMark of Emporium; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Frances Spong and a brother, Anthony DeMark.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Barnett Funeral Home Inc. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the St. Mark Catholic Church, 235 East Fourth Street, Emporium, with the Rev. Paul S. Siebert, pastor, as celebrant.
Burial will be in the St. Mark Catholic Cemetery, Emporium
