Margery C. Winkie Morey, 96, formerly of 31 Culbertson Lane, Bradford, passed away Friday (Oct. 12, 2012) at the Lakeside Beikirch Care Center in Brockport, N.Y.
Born Sept. 21, 1916, in Coudersport, she was a daughter of the late Edwin "ER" and Irene Randell Culbertson. On Oct. 2, 1937, in Rixford, she married Leo Winkie, who died in 1960. In 1961, she married the Rev. Roger Morey, who died in 1986.
Mrs. Morey was a 1937 graduate of Bradford Area High School. She owned and operated Winkie's Red & White Grocery Store for 10 years. Mrs. Morey and her husband the Rev. Roger Morey moved to Fairview to pastor the Weis Library Church.
Surviving is one daughter, Marilyn A. (Frank) Macri of Rochester, N.Y., one daughter-in-law, Judy Winkie of Bradford; one stepdaughter, Lois Jean (Robert) VanHoutte of Bradford; two stepsons, Roger (Connie) Morey of Syracuse and Darrell Morey of Michigan; 11 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by one son, Edwin Winkie; one stepson, Dennis Morey; and three sisters, her twin sister Margaret Merry and Jeanette Elrod and Elenore Kloss.
Family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc., South Avenue, and again from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the West Branch United Methodist Church, where funeral and committal services will immediately follow at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Max Miller, pastor, officiating. Committal and burial will be in Willow Dale Cemetery.
