JOHNSONBURG - Margie Rose "Babe" Cherry, 83, of 5000 Whitehaven Court, Richmond, Va., formerly of Northridge, Calif., died on Sunday (Oct. 13, 2013) at Autumn Care in Hanover, Va., following a lengthy illness.

She was born on July 2, 1930, in Kane, the daughter of Gustav and Elsie Shaffer Johnson. She married Victor "Vito" Cherry on Jan. 13, 1948, in Johnsonburg. He died Dec. 21, 2000.
Mrs. Cherry resided in Virginia since 2009. Formerly of California, she graduated from Kane High School in 1947.
She is survived by daughters, Janice "Jan" Myer of Richmond and Victoria Cherry of Lake Balboa, Calif.; grandchildren, Eric Myer of Richmond and Bryan Myer of Covington, Ga.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Cherry was predeceased by her parents; husband; brother, Norman Johnson; and sisters, June Lucore, Geraldine "Hon" Cooley, Audrey Stewart, Elaine Weaver and Linnea McAllister.
There will be no visitation. A graveside family remembrance service will be held at 1 p.m. Nov. 16 at Holy Rosary Cemetery, where she will be buried.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Anthony F. Ferragine Funeral Home, 401 Chestnut St., Johnsonburg.
