EMPORIUM - Marion A. Hallowell, 76, of 2015 Old West Creek Road, Emporium, died at Penn Highlands Elk, St. Marys, on Sunday morning (Dec. 27, 2015) following a lengthy illness.

She was born Oct. 7, 1939, in Clymer, a daughter of the late Thomas and Elsie Akins Gibbs.
Mrs. Hallowell graduated from Cameron County High School. She retired from GTE Sylvania in Emporium, where she worked for many years.
She was a life member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Unit #6222. Marion was an avid bowler, having received the presidential fitness award. She also was inducted into the St. Marys Women's Bowling Association Hall of Fame. She loved the game of golf having played for many years. She especially loved spending time with her family.
Surviving are a daughter, Debra Hallowell of Emporium; two sons, David "Bucket" (Kim) Hallowell and Donald Hallowell, all of Emporium; a companion of 46 years, Robert Foster of Emporium; three grandchildren, Lacey (Ryan) McFadden, Jenelle (Bill) Lampariello and Shawn Hallowell; two great-grandchildren, Easton Lampariello and Riley McFadden; and a sister, Shirley (Richard) Sassaman of Driftwood.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, William Putt.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. today at the Barnett Funeral Home, 207 E. Fourth St., Emporium, followed by a funeral service with Dave Averill officiating. Burial will be in Newton Cemetery, Emporium.
