Marjorie A. Ryder, 85, of Burrows Road, passed away Friday (June 8, 2012) at home following a long illness.

Born May 28, 1927, in Larabee she was a daughter of Arthur and Flora Burroughs Burrows. On May 6, 1966, in Duke Center, she married Lewis A. Ryder, who passed away on Aug. 18, 1993.
Marjorie graduated from the Eldred High School in 1946 as salutatorian. She was a lifetime resident of Burrows Road.
Mrs. Ryder spent most of her life as a family caregiver.
She was a past member of the Eldred Free Methodist Church and enjoyed playing Scrabble, doing crossword puzzles and baking. She was an avid Pittsburgh Penguins fan, but mostly she enjoyed her family.
Surviving is one son, Dean (Cassandra) Ryder of Eldred; one daughter, Penny (Greg) VanCamp of Eldred; five grandchildren, Keith VanCamp, Ashley (Adam) Farr, Amanda Ryder, Courtney Miller and Shane Ryder, as well as one great-grandson, Grady VanCamp; and two sisters, Dorothy McClain of Eldred and Laura Bacha of Duke Center.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Connie Burrows; three brothers, Paul, Alvin and Laverne Burrows; and five sisters, Mabel Dietz, Maggie Chase, Marian Raszman, Cordelia Snyder and Grave VanHorn.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Frame Funeral Home in Eldred. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the First Church of God in Eldred with the Rev. Roger Laktash and pastor Jim Kazimer co-officiating. Burial will follow in Grimes Cemetery, Port Allegany.
