PORT ALLEGANY - Marjorie Berwaldt, 86, of School House Road, Danville, formerly of Tonawanda, N.Y., and Port Allegany, passed away Sunday (Dec. 23, 2012) in the Emmanuel Nursing Center, Danville.

Born Jan. 4, 1926, in Sabinsville, she was a daughter of Fred and Mirenda Schott Benn. In 1946 in Wellsville, N.Y., she married George A. Nelson, who died March 20, 1987. On May 25, 1996, in North Tonawanda, N.Y., she married Gustav R. Berwaldt, who died June 1, 2009.
Mrs. Berwaldt had owned and operated a daycare center, before her retirement.
She was a member of a non-denominational church for many years.
Surviving are two sons, Daniel L. (Venetta) Nelson of Rochester, N.Y., and Robert G. Nelson of Polk; three daughters, Sara (Richard) Wojcik of Tonawanda, N.Y., Deborah Hults of Danville and Cheryl McKerrow of Tonawanda, N.Y.; nine grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; a sister, Jean Carlson of Galeton; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, George Nelson and Gustav Berwaldt; two brothers, John Benn and Fred Benn Jr.; and a sister, Florence Doyle.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the Switzer Funeral Home, Port Allegany, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday with Robert Flippo and Delmar Stockwell co-officiating.
Burial will be in the Portage Valley Cemetery, Wrights.
