KANE - Maryellen "Gabby" Morris, 76, of 100 Kentucky Ave., James City, died Friday evening (April 18, 2014) at Kane Community Hospital.
Born Aug. 24, 1938, in Coal Mine, Pa., she was the daughter of Frederick E. and Doris E. Oyler Edinger. On Nov. 24, 1955, she married Lloyd G. "G-man" Morris, who survives.
Gabby, a well-known CB radio enthusiast, was a lifetime member of the Highland Township Fire Department and was awarded Citizen of the Year in Kane in 1985 after the tornado.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, are a daughter, Cathy Hulings of Kane; two sons, Thomas W. Morris and David Morris, both of James City; two sisters, Ellen Hulings of James City and Debbie Holmes of Kane; and two brothers, David Edinger and Thomas Edinger, both of James City. Four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren also survive.
Preceding her in death, besides her parents, is a sister, Donna Hulings.
A celebration of her life will be held at the Highland Township Firehall in James City at 2:30 p.m. Saturday with the Rev. Chad Troup, pastor of the First Church of God in Kane, officiating. The family will receive friends there from 2 to 9 p.m.
