I had the privilege of working with Max. He was dedicated, driven and always delivering the very best. His insight and intellect were matched well with his wit and humor. I'm glad to have had the pleasure of his acquaintance although I never got to hear him sing, and that I do regret. He was a gentle soul and a good man. May he rest in peace.

Max was a unique individual and a lot of fun to be around! Max had a special gift, his voice! I met Max when he started singing Tenor with the Wayne Oratorio Society, where I sang Soprano. I soon realized that Max really LOVED to sing, and almost always had two or three masterworks that he was rehearsing/performing at the same time. Belshazzar's Feast by Wm. Walton was one of his favorites! "Oh, you'll love this one!" he told me, and he was right! My sympathy, thoughts and prayers to all the Birtcil family on the loss of their brother, and uncle. We will miss Max, his happy smile and wonderful voice, but now he is singing Tenor with the angels.
