COLUMBIA, S.C. - Melvin James, 73, formerly of the Bradford, Pa., area, passed away on Sunday (June 14, 2015) in Columbia.

He was born on Feb. 1, 1942, in Bradford, a son of Leslie and Esther Miller James. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, having served with the U.S. Army for six years. He later resided in Lantana, Fla. for 35 years prior to moving to Columbia.
In addition to his wife , Diane, of 49 years, he is survived by two sons, Kevin (Jennifer) James and David James; two grandchildren, Tiffani (Kyle) Davis and Adam (Brittany) Taylor; a great-granddaughter, Kyleigh Marie Taylor; a sister, Marletta Wiland of Vestal, N.Y. and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may call on Friday at the Frame Funeral Home, Eldred, Pa., from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., at which time a memorial service will be held with the Rev. Gary Sheesley officiating. Burial will follow at the Lamphier Cemetery, Eldred.
