ST. MARYS - Michael Samuel "Mike" DeStephano, 54, of 325 Washington St., St. Marys, passed away unexpectedly Friday (April 4, 2014) at his home.
He was born Aug. 29, 1959, in St. Marys, a son of the late Samuel W. DeStephano and Alice Lecker DeStephano, who survives of St. Marys.
Mr. DeStephano was a lifelong resident of the area and a graduate of St. Marys Area High School, Class of 1977. He was a 1981 graduate of Clarion University and did post graduate work at the University of Pittsburgh and Wake Forest University in North Carolina. He was a former employee of Windfall Products in St. Marys and Penn Tech in Johnsonburg.
Mike was a member of the Ridgway YMCA and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates fan. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, campfires, a good cigar, and especially spending time with his family.
In addition to his mother, Mike is survived by two sisters, Mary Lorenzo of St. Marys and Laura (Jerry) Ishler of Curwensville; two brothers, Carl (Elizabeth) DeStephano of Baldwinsville, N.Y., and Samuel J. (Jennie) DeStephano of Columbus, Ohio; three nephews, Luke Lorenzo, Mark Ishler and Benjamin DeStephano; and one niece, Isabella DeStephano.
Besides his father, he was preceded in death by two infant brothers, John and David DeStephano; and by his nephew and godson, Matthew Lorenzo.
Friends may call on Thursday from noon until the time of the funeral service at 1 p.m. in the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.
