BUTTE, Mont. - Milford "Pete" Thomas, 87, of Butte, formerly of Cyclone, Pa., died Sunday (July 24, 2016) at dawn, Pete's favorite time of day. Pete's family was by his side.
Pete was born July 9, 1929, in Cyclone, a son of Joseph F. and Bertha Thomas. On July 12, 1952, he married Kathleen D. Hendrickson, who passed away on June 26, 2007.
Pete served in the U.S. Navy from 1948 to 1952. He worked in the Pennsylvania Oil Fields followed by employment at the Quaker State Refinery until his retirement in 1991.
Surviving is one sister, Alveila Cullen of Summerfield, Fla.; two sons, Gregory (Christine) of Butte and Joseph (Cherie) of Duke Center, Pa.; a daughter, Marcia (Donald) Leaver of Cabot, Ark.; grandchildren, Jennifer, Nathan, Robin and Jay; and great-grandchildren, Alex, Aurora, Sterling, Grayson, Bennett, Juno and Jaxon.
Pete was preceded in death by brothers, Albert, Richard and Arthur J. "Art."
A private family memorial service will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery, Smethport, Pa., at a later date.
Arrangements are under the direction of Axelson Alternative Cremation of Butte.
