SALAMANCA, N.Y. - Myra I. Rodgers, 100, formerly of South Loop Road, Steamburg, died Friday afternoon (May 8, 2015) at the Absolut Nursing Care in Salamanca following a long illness.

Born Nov. 17, 1914, in Elko, she was the daughter of the late Floyd Johnson and Alice Pierce.
Mrs. Rodgers was an enrolled member of the Seneca Nation of Indians and the Hawk Clan.
She was employed with the Seneca Nation Nutrition Department, Bradford (Pa.) Regional Medical Center and the former Fairmont Ice Cream Co. in Quaker Bridge.
She was an avid bingo player and will be remembered for her Sunday morning breakfasts that she cooked.
Surviving are a daughter-in-law, Laura Rodgers of Randolph; a niece, Virginia Strasser of Steamburg; eight grandchildren, Bruce (Penny) Johnson of Ellington, Darlene Kiendl of Kennedy, Sue (James) Cawley of Bradford, Gary (Janet) Johnson of Jamestown, David Johnson and Ronald Johnson, both of Salamanca, Lori Johnson of Kennedy and Russ (Lila) Geiser of Kenmore; 23 great-grandchildren; 30 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Rodgers was preceded in death by two sons, Verona "Ron" Johnson and Rutherford "Russ" Rodgers; four sisters, Rose Bentley, Valora John, Valleta Johnson and Ramola John; and three brothers, Elmer Johnson, Karl Johnson and Boyd Johnson.
Memorial visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at the O'Rourke & O'Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River St., Salamanca, where funeral services will immediately follow with the Rev. Marvin Abrams, pastor of the Jimersontown Presbyterian Church, officiating.
