COUDERSPORT - Norman F. Martin, 88, of 165 School St., Austin, passed away Wednesday (July 16, 2014) at Cole Memorial Hospital, Coudersport, following a brief illness.

Born on July 6, 1926, in Austin, Norm was a son of the late Wilbur and Nora Glaspy Martin. On April 24, 1948, in St. Augustine's Roman Catholic Church, Austin, he married Agnes Norek Martin, who survives.
Norm was a World War II veteran of the United States Navy. He served from Nov. 29, 1944 to July 3, 1946 as a Seaman First Class USNR.
He had worked as a grid mechanic for Philips ECG Inc./ Sylvania located in Emporium for 33 years, retiring in 1982.
Norm was a devout member of St. Augustine's Catholic Church and a proud member of the Austin VFW for many years.
Norm was an avid fisherman respected for his fishing skills and knowledge of area streams. Over the years he took many neighborhood children and relatives to fishing derbys. His love of nature included deer hunting with his son Mick, gardening and hunting ginseng.
Norm enjoyed his neighbors, taking care of his house and yard, and watching activities at the ballfield from his front porch. He loved his family who he and his wife visited often and celebrated life's milestones with.
Surviving Norman are his loving wife Agnes of 66 years, a daughter, Pamela (Kimball) Klein of Eldred; a daughter-in-law, Rosa (Mick) Martin of Coudersport; four grandchildren, Heather (James) Holden, Kelley (Rick) Weber, Shena Martin and Maria (Joe) Peters; and five great-grandchildren, Malachi, Lili, Lydia, Nora and Elias.
In addition to his parents and his brother, Charles Martin, Norm was preceded in death by his son, Michael N. Martin on March 10, 2014.
Norman's Life Celebration memorial service will be held Aug. 2, with a visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. and a service to follow at St. Eulalia's Catholic Church in Coudersport, with the Rev. James Campbell officiating.
