WELLSVILLE, N.Y. - Paul E. Kio, a former resident of the Port Allegany, Pa., area, passed away on Friday (March 16, 2012) at Manor Hills in Wellsville.

He was born on July 19, 1926, in Coudersport, Pa., to Byron and Etha Hayes Kio.
Paul joined the U.S. Navy in 1943 at the age of 17 and served until 1946. He was a self-employed carpenter who worked on and built houses.
Survivors include a son, Donald Kio of Bradford, Pa.; a daughter, Paula Abrams of Bradford; two brothers, Philip (Leah) Kio of Port Allegany and Roland (June) Kio of Eldred Pa.; and several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Paul was preceded in death by four sisters, Ella Wight, Nellie Llewellyn, Pearl Link and Helen Kio; and two brothers, Edward Kio and Byron Kio Jr.
Friends are invited to call from noon to 1 p.m. April 5 at the J.W. Embser Sons Funeral Home, 34 W. State St., Wellsville. His funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial will take place in Fairview Cemetery in Port Allegany.
