KANE - Phyllis L. Stanko, 78, of 24 N. Elk Ave., passed away Tuesday (May 12, 2015) at Kane Community Hospital.

Born Feb. 19, 1937, in Port Allegany, she was a daughter of the late Leon and Vivian Baker Davis. On May 7, 1960, in Sheffield, she married Stephen Stanko, who survives.
Phyllis, a devoted wife and mother, had worked at Stackpole for 20 years. She was a member of St. Callistus Catholic Church.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, are a daughter, Diane (Gerard Smith) Stanko of Allison Park; a grandson, Benjamin Smith of Allison Park; two granddaughters, Kara Debevec of Sagertown and Krysta Stanko of Richmond, Va.; a sister, Janice Brawand of Altoona; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death, besides her parents, by a daughter, Laurie Ann Stanko; and a son Stephen "Joe" Stanko.
Friends will be received in the gathering space at St. Callistus Church on Saturday from 9:30 to 11 a.m., at which time a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Philip Pinczewski, pastor. Burial will be in St. Callistus Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Cummings Funeral Home Inc.
