Raymond L. Nagel, 92, formerly of Limestone, N.Y., passed away Sunday (March 27, 2016) at the Bradford Manor.

Born Aug. 22, 1923, in Arkwright, N.Y., he was a son of the late F. Raymond and Mary Van Schooven Nagel.
Mr. Nagel was a 1941 graduate of East Aurora High School. On Feb. 10, 1941, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, served during World War II and was honorably discharged on Sept. 12, 1945. He remained in the Navy Reserves for 25 years and the Army Reserves for five years.
He had worked as an LPN case manager for the New York State Department of Mental Health for more than 34 years. While working for the state, he also owned and operated a grocery store and farm with his family.
Mr. Nagel was a member of the Limestone United Methodist Church and a member of the VFW, and American Legion.
Surviving is a daughter, Elaine Harris of Limestone; three sons, Ray Nagel Jr., of Bradford, Vaughn Nagel of Arizona, and Dennis Nagel of California; 13 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to three wives, he was preceded in death by a son, Bertram Nagel; a sister, Agnes Webb; and a brother, Charles Nagel.
At the family's request, there will be no visitation. Friends are invited to attend a memorial service at 10 a.m. Sunday in the Limestone United Methodist Church with the Rev. Robert Beard, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in New Albion Cemetery.
