TURTLEPOINT - Reita A. Hart, 80, of Route 155, passed away Thursday (Nov. 19. 2015) in Buffalo (N.Y.) General Hospital from complications of heart surgery.

Born Oct. 10, 1935, in Troupsburg, N.Y., she was a daughter of Ephraim F. and Margaret M. Burton Hammond. On July 20, 1956, in Port Allegany, she married Samuel B. Hart, who survives. They were married 59 years.
She was a longtime resident of the area who enjoyed her family, TV soap operas, puzzles, and was an avid card player.
Surviving, in addition to her husband Samuel, are a son, Samuel B. Hart Jr. of Turtlepoint; a daughter, Linda S. (Brian) Lunn of Turtlepoint; three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; four brothers, Fred O. (Dorothy) Hammond of Port Allegany, James L. Hammond of Port Matilda, John M. Hammond of Gold, and Donald E. (Linda) Hammond of Williamsport; three sisters, Shirley J. (Fred) Redmond and Sarah M. Hammond, both of Port Allegany, and Joyce A. (Sam) Moore of Greenville; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Robert and Franklin Hammond; and a great-granddaughter.
Friends will be received from 4 to 7:30 p.m. today in the Switzer Funeral Home, Port Allegany, where a funeral service will be held at 7:30 p.m. with the Rev. Terri Niver officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Port Allegany.
