JOHNSONBURG - Beloved brother, uncle and friend. Richard Joseph Peter Kowalski, 50, born July 2, 1964, passed away Saturday (Nov. 29, 2014) after a long battle with cancer.
A resident of Johnsonburg, and a 1983 graduate of Johnsonburg Area High School, he was an employee of Roy B. Constables Stores. Richard was loved by many, and always brought a special spirit into any room. He lived life to the fullest every day. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, hunting, and playing cards with friends.
Among his many activities, he was also a member of Holy Rosary Church, Johnsonburg, the Holy Rosary Folk Group and the PFL. Richard has touched so many in his short life. He will be fondly remembered for his undying spirit, his strength and determination, and his love for family. To his 19 nieces and nephews, he was the fun uncle who was always willing to get into a little trouble. To his brothers and sisters, Richard was the stubborn one, picking fights but ending in hugs. Richard fought a valiant fight and now rests peacefully.
Richard is survived by siblings, Mark Kowalski and his wife Chris, Ginger Kowalski Schreiber and her husband Doug, John Kowalski and his wife Sandy, Teresa Kowalski Rottero and her husband Mark, Sherri Kowalski, and a daughter Brynn Kowalski.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Ann Kowalski; and brother, James Kowalski.
Friends will be received at the Anthony F. Ferragine Funeral Home, 401 Chestnut St., Johnsonburg, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at Holy Rosary Church, Johnsonburg, at 10 a.m. Wednesday. Officiating will be the Rev. David J. Wilson, pastor. Interment will be in Holy Rosary Cemetery, Johnsonburg.
